Summary:
In addition to the standard form fields, that are explained in the article "The donation form", there are several form fields, that can be displayed at different places on the form. This help article explains the different form fields and where they can be displayed.
What types of additional fields are there?
Checkboxes
Checkboxes are multiple-choice-fields, which means that none, one, some or all choices can be selected. The title of the checkbox-field, the different choices and their description can be chosen freely. Pictures can be added to every choice.
Drop-down-fields
A drop-down field is a list of choices, that appears when clicked on. You can only choose one item from the list. This field requires just a title and the desired selection possibilities. There can be as many choices as you want.
Radio buttons
Radio buttons are single-choice fields. The title of the radio button field, the different possible choices and their description can also be chosen freely.
Text fields
Text fields always consist of the text field itself and a label, that can be freely chosen. If you want to include additional text fields, we can also choose the allowed input. There are the follwing options:
- alphabetical (only letters: a-z; A-Z)
- alphanumeric (letters & numerals: a-z; A-Z; 0-9)
- numeric (only numerals: 0-9)
- dates (only dates in the format: dd.mm.yyyy)
- everything (letters, numerals and special characters)
HTML blocks
HTML blocks can display personalized content in the form of HTML code. Whether normal images, animated GIFs or customized texts, there are many possibilities here. To give you a brief overview, we have listed some examples below:
Standard settings for additional form fields
There are some standard settings, that have to be defined for every additional form field. At first, you have to decide if the additional field is a mandatory field or not. Mandatory field means, that you cannot continue to step 2 of the form, until it is filled in. Then you can decide if the information entered shall be displayed on step 3 of the form (summary & signature). Also the welcome e-mail can be adjusted to the additional fields.
Additional fields on Self-Checkout
Additional fields can also be shown on the Self-Checkout form. For this, there are three available settings per additional field:
- only on fundraiser device
- only in self-checkout
- always
Only on fundraiser device
If the field is only available for the fundraiser device, the field can only be filled with data on the donation form with the fundraiser. If it's also shown in the summary it's shown on both summary fields (donation form and self-checkout form).
Only in self-checkout
If it's only available in self-checkout, the field can only be filled with data on the self-checkout form and will never be shown on the donation form.
Always
With always, the field is shown on both forms (self-checkout and donation form) and can always be filled with data. If some data was already entered on the donation form, the same field on the self-checkout form will be prefilled with the data that was entered or selected on the donation form. If shown on the summary, it will only be on the summary of the donation form, but an editable field on the self-checkout form.
If any field above is set as required and chosen to be used only on the fundraiser device, it must be selected or filled out to submit the donation form. For the other two settings (self-checkout and donation form), the required fields will only be mandatory on the self-checkout form. This means the donation form can be submitted without any data in these fields, even if they are marked as required.
Conditional input fields:
Additional input fields can also only be displayed under certain conditions, for example if a certain checkbox / radio button has been selected or a certain sponsorship.
Where can additional form fields be displayed?
Additional form fields can be displayed at the end of every section of the form. You can display as many additional fields under every section, as you want. There are the following sections:
- Personal data
- Address
- Contact data
- Sponsorhip/donation selection
- Bank data
- Other queries
- Step 2 - quality feedback
- Disclaimer step 3
- Signature step 3
